Young Princess – India

In India, where ritual and religious conduct are a daily concern, it is not unusual to see an entourage gracing a small street with its finery of silver laden horses, painted elephants and adorned women and noble men, flowers falling in their footsteps. India is magical that way. This young girl is not a child bride but rather born of nobility; she is celebrating Shivaratri, an important holiday in Hindu tradition.

Demure yet regal in her small throne, the princess is carried by individuals through an assemblage of people tossing marigold flowers above her head where the petals are captured in her hair.
