Hungarians are great believers in the medicinal powers of thermal bathing. There are over 100 thermal bathhouses boasting some of the world’s finest Ottoman architecture and consisting of wonderful octagonal pools, cupolas and colored glass windows. They offer perhaps the most unique and hedonistic bathing experience in the world. The infamous Danube River follows the geographical fault separating Buda Hills from the great plain. The baths are fed from more than 40 million liters of warm mineral water gushing forth daily from over 120 springs.
