ABOUT

Bearing
Witness To The Human Spirit
Lisa Kristine does not simply create photographs; she builds awareness and fosters understanding and compassion.
For more than four decades, Lisa has documented the resilience of the human spirit in over 150 countries. Working with large- and medium-format cameras, she approaches each encounter with humility and respect.
Through this way of working, Lisa reveals the human thread that connects us all. Each image honors dignity, trust, and shared humanity, helping establish her as a world-renowned humanitarian photographer and a leading voice in the global movement to end modern slavery.
A Career of
Global Impact
Art As A Catalyst
Lisa’s work stands as the subject of four documentaries, yet her greatest accolade remains the trust of those she photographs.
I want the people who experience my work to have the opportunity to gaze into the eyes of the 'other' and find there a familiarity. I want to welcome them into the exploration of our mysterious lives with a spirit of curiosity, astonishment, and hope.
Mission

To See
The Invisible
I have always believed that we cannot change what we do not see.
My mission is simple, yet demanding: To force the world to see the invisible, while upholding the inherent dignity of every human being.
The
Sacred
Exchange
When I stand before a person whether an indigenous elder in the Kalahari or a survivor in a brick kiln I do not see a "subject." I see a mentor.

Shining
A Light In The Dark
In 2009, I learned that tens of millions of people were enslaved worldwide. The knowledge shook me to my core. I knew I had to act.
I realized that visual storytelling was the most powerful tool I had to fight this injustice.
